Well, sort of. In Dana on Sunday, Andy Mitton ’02 and Jesse Holland ’01 will screen YELLOWBRICKROAD, a horror/thriller movie they co-wrote and -directed.
Here’s a synopsis, from YBR‘s fancy website:
the Fall of 1940, the entire population of Friar, New Hampshire walked together up a winding mountain trail and into the wilderness. The only clue where they went was a single word etched into stone near the forest’s edge: YELLOWBRICKROAD. A search party eventually discovered the remains of nearly half of Friar’s evacuees. Many had frozen to death. Others were cruelly and mysteriously slaughtered. Most were never found.
In 2009, the coordinates for the ‘YELLOWBRICKROAD’ trail head are declassified. An expedition begins in search of answers. A few among them believe they will find something terrible in the forest. But it is the forest that will find something terrible in them.
This movie has deep Middlebury connections. Theater professor Alex Draper plays Walter, a member of the expedition team. Other alumni in the cast include Cassidy Freeman, Clark Freeman, Tara Giordano and Sam Elmore. A number of current Midd students worked as production assistants during filming this past summer.
YELLOWBRICKROAD. 4:00 and 7:30. Dana. FREE — and freaky.
