One Student’s Project Becomes A Viral Hit

In case you haven’t seen it already, “The Scared is scared”, a short film produced this J-Term by recent Midd grad Bianca Giaever (‘12.5), has over 300,000 views on Vimeo.  The video features six-year old Asa Baker-Rouse narrating a delightful story about a bear and a mouse that go on an adventure.  It’s been featured on mashable.com, The Atlantic, reddit, Buzzfeed, Jezebel, CBS news, and many more blogs, and in addition has over 50,000 views from Facebook alone.  Giaever’s advisor Jason Mittell discusses the video’s rapid rise on his blog here.

Check it out, it’s well worth your time.

  1. A truly remarkable piece of imagination.

Something tells me this film has struck a powerful cord within our society, acting as national catharsis of sorts in the wake of the tragedy in Newtown. The six year old’s spirit in this film overcomes all fear and malice like that which was brought upon those six year olds at Sandy Hook.
